Turn Leads Into Sales With This Writing Trick
I want to show you a trick that transformed my writing for the better. If you pay attention and implement what I’m going to share here, I promise you’ll never struggle with writing again.Most articles sound robotic. You don’t want that; it’ll kill your reader’s interest, and they’ll click away in a heartbeat.So, how do we prevent our writing from sounding robotic?
Take Your Article to the Bar
No, we aren’t going to bring our articles to the bar for a drink. We’re probably not going to take it to the bar at all.What I mean is that you need to make sure your writing sounds conversational.If you wouldn’t say it at the bar, don’t say it in your article.
Here’s an example:“Marketing plans can get quite granular to reflect the industry you're in, whether you're selling to consumers (B2C) or other businesses (B2B), and how big your digital presence is.”Notice how robotic that sounded? Let’s fix it with the Bar Test.“Marketing plans change depending on which industry you’re targeting.”See how much easier that is to read?Now it sounds more conversational and flowing.Okay, we know what the Bar Test is. How do we use it?
How to Use the Bar Test
This is such a simple trick that you’re probably going to think, “Why haven’t I already thought of this?!”Read your article out loud.
If you read your article out loud, you can see where you stumble over words or where it feels too robotic.Once you find those tough spots in your article, fix them.Just think about how you would explain it to someone at the bar.This is what helped change my writing for the better. Once I started doing it, my writing became ten times better.
Don’t Drag Out Your Writing
You don’t want to make your writing too long.Here’s what I mean:
“But most of the people running businesses nowadays barely even think about what problem their product is solving, let alone whether their most likely buyer is male or female, what their age range is, what their interests are, or even what haircut they have.”See what I mean by too long? That sentence is 47 words long; it’s a mega run-on sentence.Sentences can be super short: three words, five words, or even ten words—BUT NOT 47!I also want to point out how dense and hard to read that is. That’s because there aren’t any line breaks!The reason for line breaks is to make the article look more digestible and less intimidating. If you start using line breaks, people will be way less intimidated by the article.They make the article feel shorter.

I want you to start implementing this into your daily writing to make it more entertaining and digestible, see how much better it does.Remember that reading your article out loud isn’t weird. Plus, it helps a lot, so do it.
Don’t write dense paragraphs, and avoid run-on sentences. How to Use a CTA The Right Way
When you show ads to people, you can’t just say, “Need X? We get X done quickly and effectively.” That ad would fail miserably. Instead, if you add a CTA, like “Need X? We will get it done in X amount of time, guaranteed. Call XXXXXXXXXX today to book your appointment,” your ad will perform much better.Do you see the difference?One simply informs the viewer, while the other prompts them to take action.By introducing a CTA into your marketing, your audience will want your service even more than before!Even better than just scheduling an appointment, you could offer something special. For example:
Call XXXXXXXXXX today to get 15% off your first purchase.Or: Visit XXXXXXXXXX for a chance to win one free X.Either way, you’re making the prospect want to buy from you even more because you’re offering them a price cut. They feel like they’re getting a good deal, which increases their desire for your service.The CTA is by FAR the best way to make you the most wanted in your niche.
Using a CTA to Get More Leads
We want prospects to see our ads and say, “GIVE THAT TO ME!” We already know this can be achieved with a CTA. But what happens after they show interest?Let’s say the CTA is “Visit example.com to get a free guide on X.” In that case, the prospect will sign up and provide their email address. Now you have a lead, and you can start emailing them.You’ve probably experienced this yourself. You sign up for a website to get something for free, and then they send you an email.You want to craft a well-written email with another CTA to encourage them to buy (I’ll cover “how to write well” in a future article).Ideally, you offer them something for free that you can produce in unlimited quantities, like an ebook.Then, you sell them on your actual product and make money.

This is called "retargeting," and it can get a bit annoying.If you want to get in front of people who want your product, you can use retargeting. That’s why stage three is the best time to get in front of the prospect.There is one big problem we still have to solve: the TikTok brain, aka short attention spans.Here’s how you can fix that.
How to Fix the TikTok Brain
TikTok has turned everybody’s brains to mush. Our attention spans are thinner than a piece of paper. So, how do we get around this?If we show our prospect the same ad over and over again, they’ll get bored and start ignoring it.It’s like giving them a book to read, but every chapter is the same.That’s why we aren’t going to show them the same ad twice.We will make four or five different ads that we can show the prospect.
Once they see one of the ads, we’ll retarget them with a new one.Remember, each ad needs to be valuable and unique; otherwise, the prospect will skip it, even if it is new.Why should it be valuable and not just unique?Well, there’s a very important reason, so let’s get into that.
Helping Others Pays Off
You’ve probably had an experience where someone does something to help you. Maybe it’s as simple as holding the door open—I don’t know.If they do it and don’t ask anything in return, you probably start thinking, “This guy just helped me out for no reason. Didn’t even ask anything in return! I owe him; how can I return the favor?”This is exactly what you want when marketing.Each ad should contain something that makes the prospect feel like they need to return a favor. If you’ve already delivered a favor, they are way more likely to buy from you, and you probably won’t even have to hard-sell them!Now, I’m not saying you should do good things and expect good things to come in return. Just do good things, and if something good happens in return, that’s good.If you are helping your prospects in each ad, the sale will come a lot easier.I recommend trying to implement the things I taught here into your marketing. I can guarantee that that person wants coffee.The hungry market of a coffee shop are people that want coffee.Same goes for any business. You run a dentistry? Your audience should be people that need their teeth fixed or cleaned.Ok, but how do you reach them?Meta ads work amazing for this.
